Adnan Sami Khan was born on 15 August (1971) in London, England. His present age is 53 years. His father belongs to a Pashtun family in Pakistan and his mother belongs to a Muslim family in India. Adnan Sami Khan's father's name is Arshad Sami Khan. Adnan Sami belongs to a Muslim family.

On 26 May (2015), he submitted an application for Indian citizenship to the Ministry of Home Affairs, having held Canadian citizenship when his Pakistani passport expired. In late December (2015), the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs approved his application for legal status as a citizen of India with effect from 1 January (2016). Adnan Sami's debut album, The One and Only (1989) with tabla maestro Zakir Hussain was a classic. He released his first vocal solo album Ragtime in (1991). The song "Teri Yaad Ka" in his album was the title track of his first album which became very popular in Pakistan.
