Famous politician of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Muhammad Khan

Ali Muhammad Khan was born on November 30, 1977 in Mardan, a city in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He belongs to a Pashtun family. His grandfather, Pir Muhammad Khan, was an activist of the Pakistan Movement close to Muhammad Ali Jinnah and in 1940, he led a caravan from Mardan to participate in the Lahore Resolution.

He also served as a federal minister twice in Pakistan, but after that the family more or less stopped being involved in national politics. Ali Mohammad Khan received his LLB degree from Universal College of Islamabad (UCI). He got admission there after the advice of Barrister Masroor Shah, a senior advocate of the Supreme Court. He is also a civil engineer.

His father name is wali Muhammad Khan. His current age is 47 years. Their religion is Islam. He weighs 70 kg and is 5 feet 7 inches tall. He belongs to Tehreek-e-Insaaf, a popular political party of Pakistan at the moment. He said that due to the party elections, I was elected the district president of the party for the first time. He also said that the workers helped me to get a party ticket to contest the election. However, I was not financially strong enough to campaign but my party supported me and provided funds of Rs.4 lakh. Ali Muhammad Khan advised the youth never to despair and said that they should strive with full passion and high character while leaving the results to Allah Almighty.

Regarding his political campaign in the 2013 general elections, Ali Muhammad Khan said that 'My campaign was in accordance with the instructions given by my party and the party workers played a significant role in making my campaign effective. Further, that 'I did not face any particular challenge during my political campaign as my constituents were in favor of positive change. Although I faced financial difficulties in this regard mainly due to the death of my father after a long illness, the party supported me and provided all the expenses of the campaign.

Ali Muhammad Khan was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan as a candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf from Constituency NA-10 (Mardan) in the (2013) general elections. He secured 46,531 votes and defeated the JUI-F candidate. He was re-elected to the National Assembly as a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf candidate from NA-22 (Male) constituency in the (2018) general elections.

He secured 58,577 votes and defeated Maulana Muhammad Qasim.  After that, on 17 September 2018, he was included in the federal cabinet of Prime Minister Imran Khan. After being elected in the 2013 elections, the difficulties and challenges Ali Muhammad Khan faced was the attitude and reaction of the senior members of Parliament.

Who were reluctant to respect and provide support to the newly elected MPs. However, with the passage of time, realizing the enthusiasm of the new arrivals, the senior members started respecting them. He said that 'initially people's expectations were very high. They were expecting them for basic facilities like replacement of transformer, maintenance of S.H.O, repair of streets etc. but still I made it clear that it is not my job to provide employment and other basic facilities.

However, he was excited as a Member of Parliament to work for the establishment of a Supreme Parliament where a Member of Parliament would play his role in accordance with national interests. According to him, at that time Parliament was not using its full capabilities. He wished that 'laws should be made to meet the concerns of the people and to provide fundamental rights to the citizens for the collective welfare'.

On 11 May 2023, he was arrested by Pakistani authorities under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) law for his alleged involvement in protests and incitement against the army. After he was arrested eight times, and spent 78 days in jail, he was released on July 27, after the Peshawar High Court intervened to grant him bail.

He said that Pakistan can become a strong, progressive, independent Islamic state with good educational institutions, universities, basic facilities, industries and employment as compared to other regional countries. He urged the youth to fulfill their responsibilities with honesty and dedication. They should never lose heart and leave the final outcome to Allah.
